Fishing in the Algarve

While being on the atlantic, the influence of warm Mediterranean currents makes the Algarve one of the best Big Game Fishing areas in the world, the temperate breaks created when warm and cool water interact are a strong attraction to both bait and big game.
Fishing off the reefs there is a huge variety of fish including sea bream, bass, mackerel, octopus and conga eel. For the big game, 10 miles out to sea, there are several types of shark including blue and mako as well as marlin, swordfish and tuna amongst others.

The track is a 30 minute journey from Albufeira and is a replica of the Jacarepagua track in Brazil with a half mile racing track, 8 yards width and electronic timing facility. The complex also has several other attractions including, mechanical bull and trampolining. Snack bar available as well as a fully-stocked alcoholic bar.

The Landscape of the Algarve

The south coast of the Algarve runs around 155 kilometers. Along the Atlantic Ocean, there is nearly one hundred beautiful beaches stretching along the Algarve. The water temperature at some of the Algarve beaches can be extremely warm due to the sea currents, even during the colder winter months. At the southern tip of Europe, it has been said that the Algarve is one of Europe’s most unpolluted areas.

There is great variety in the interior of the Algarve region. The Algarve is known for its Roman terraces and granite walls, with a few ancient monuments surviving the many destructive earthquakes throughout history.
